Petersham Festival 2007

This took place between Saturday 7th April – Sunday 15th April 2007, and was Petersham's first ever music festival. The festival was welcomed with a great deal of enthusiasm by both locals and visitors, who enjoyed the wide range of events that took place.

Particular highlights were:

An all-Bach recital in St Peter's Church by Canadian Angela Hewitt, playing a Fazioli piano. This commemorated the 250th anniversary of the birth of Captain George Vancouver, who is buried in the churchyard.

We were fortunate to enjoy hearing Angela play parts of the Well--Tempered Clavier, shortly before her world tour, which met with critical acclaim. Angela clearly enjoyed playing in St Peter's ".....a marvellous atmosphere, complete with candles and Fazioli piano!"

Helena Blackman, finalist in the BBC series "How do you solve a problem like Maria", along with other musicians singing their favourite show songs.

Michal Kaznowski (cellist of the Maggini quartet) and Michael Freyan (piano) performing Beethoven and a much admired piece by Moeran.

A stunning performance by Anahit Chaushyan, a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music. She played Prokofiev and Brahms on the Fazioli piano, and continued afterwards on the Bechstein in the Dysart Arms!

Jazz and classical music in the Dysart Arms, who also hosted an exhibition of the work of several fine artists.

Singing workshops enjoyed by many people of all ages and experience.
